This guide compares Marbella’s most exclusive neighbourhoods: what each is like, who it suits and the kind of homes you find there, whether you are renting a villa or thinking of buying.

Before you decide

How to choose

Think about how you want to spend a normal day. Walking to the beach and restaurants points to the Golden Mile; space and views to the hills; golf to Nueva Andalucía or Guadalmina.

Check drive times at the hours you will actually travel, and visit in more than one season. If you are buying, our guide to buying property in Marbella covers the process and taxes.

Insider tips

Tips for exploring the areas

  • Rent before you buy. A week in a villa tells you more than any brochure.
  • Drive it at rush hour. The A-7 and the main road get busy in summer.
  • Look at the hill gradient. Some hillside streets are steep for walking.
  • Ask about the community. Gated areas have their own rules and fees.
